Or at least how I figured out what to do with my ticket.
After buying my ticket I had no idea what to do with it, (it wasn't until yesterday that I learned what to do with it) So I had walked around and asked for help, I had messed up "English Understand" and the guy pointed to a sign in Japanese shrugged his shoulders and said "Understand" I had gotten where my train was going to be but not what to do with my ticket. I saw some people show the gate attendant there ticket so I was dong that for a while, but here is what I figured out
You but a ticket at a "ticket"(I have found that most of the kiosks have some engligh on them) kiosk that is green for the Yamanote, if you are riding that line place the amount of yen in the coin slot, or the note slot if you are using bills) you select the right amount of yen for you ticket (eg it's 190yen from Shinjuku to Ueno so select the number 190) A ticket pops out and also change if it's due.
Next place your ticket(in the slot, it the first thing there) in the gate with an up arrow with the up arrow on your ticket( your ticket will get punched and the gate will open yo pick up your ticket on the other side take you ticket and head for the area your train will be leaving (eg for Shinkjuku station bound for Ueno gate no# 15,it will say in English where it is going with arrows pointing to the area) on the bottom of the ticket under the date where is a set of numbers(eg 605, I thing that this is your seat, like so car no# 6 seat no# 5)
Since the train arrives and leaves on time you need to hurry (I have always found a empty spot to stand or sit) There are announcements in English and Japanese as well and a screen above every door that will show you your destination and the current station as well as how long it will take to the next station(about 2mins until the next stop.) No that I have figured out how the trains work I enjoy taking the train.

Wow, so much information to absorb! You're obviously having a great time despite one or two little setbacks -- keep up the great job posting your story, it's great to catch up with your adventures.
The hotel room you stayed in on your first night looked very tiny! Was that in the Shinjuku Washington Hotel or someplace else? Neat system with the room card and the power connection -- electricity is very expensive over there.
Tokyo can be overwhelming at first sight -- even with maps and directions it can be easy to get lost if you've never seen what you're looking for. I expect by now you're navigating the back streets like a native. ;) So now that you've had a really good look at Shinjuku... a reeeeally good look... what did you think??
Your first earthquake! Yeah, that can take a little getting used to. Don't worry about it too much -- if it's The Big One, at least you're going out in style! :D
Glad to hear you worked out the business with the trains. Getting around Tokyo quickly, safely and relatively inexpensively is one of the best parts about living there... makes the transit system in BC look like @$$! >:(
Holy moley, it looks like you've got Akihabara pegged on your first day! I recognize the girl from Genshiken and Pheonix Wright (the dramatic pointing silhouette gives him away in any language). The other ones are new to me. Very cool! Remember you're going to have to ship this stuff home somehow -- don't go too crazy. ;) Those life-sized dolls in Akihabara would cost you a kidney to ship home... :)
Did you get Phoenix Wright to work on your DS? And if you did, is there an English setting? Remember, the Sun Mall in Nakano has second-hand video game shops too. You can compare prices before you shell out the big yen.
Whew! So far, so good! Put up some more pictures -- we want to see where you are staying now! :)
PS -- what are you eating? Have you been to a sushi bar yet or are you just getting your lunch out of vending machines? Onigiri and CC Lemon will only keep you alive for so long! :)
That was the Shinjuku Washinton Hotel, I haven't tried Phoenix #3 yet I want to play it after I finish the 2nd and I am close to that.
Shinjuku was a really neat place I, I don't really have any plans to vist the "red light district" Also I saw my first dunking guy being questioned buy the police, and a pre-maddona screaming at the police from a cab's back seat.
When the earthquake happened I was half a sleep. But I really felt it.
The girl that is keeling is the main cracter from Da Capo, an anime thjat is basied of a date sime game, but contains no sex,
The cat girl one is an alternate version of the monn princess(Aka Arcueid Brunestud from Tsukihime lunar phase or melty blood as it's called here)
I have mostly been picking up food from the convents stores, I am want to go to a sushi bar and other places but I am not sure what to order, I really need to practice my Japanese and also it I am slowly learning how to read a bit of Kanji
Also I have tried the cafe latte(A little bitter) and the Cafe au lait (I like this) version of BOSS and they are good and also I have tried Kirin Lemon Black(which promotes the Pirates of the Caribbean) but also remember I have hardly had any coffee in my life so I am not used to the little bit of the bitterness..Or the complete bitterness of this can of coffee I got free with my figures called "Voodoo"...Ugh it kind of makes me sick.
Yes I just tried PH3 and there is an English option, from what I heard that it didn't have an option for that and also the English is really good too..I hope that no#4 has the same option.
